Voting District: 3 What inspired you to run for office? My experience and a concern for the education of all children. Tell us about your experience and why it makes you ideal for this role. I have 50 years of experience in education both as a teacher and administrator and 22 years on the Board of Education. I would like to use that experience to help educate our children in the town of Wallingford. Also, as the father of a special needs child, I feel I have the experience working with special education students. Over the years I have sought to increase test scores, implemented an innovative new curriculum that meets the needs and expectations of our students, and provided the necessary support services for all students, with a keen interest in those students with special needs. I have been and will continue to be an active member of the board by attending all meetings and working cooperatively with fellow board members, the superintendent of schools, and the assistant superintendent of schools. I volunteer on the various committees of the school board to be that active member. I am continually cognizant as to what procedures are being implemented to increase our students’ scores in math and reading. Lastly, I make a concerted effort to assist fellow board members who are new to the board . What are you most passionate about? Ensuring that our curriculum remains current through review and revision, and that it meets the needs of all our children. Secondly, I would like to see and help build strong relationships between all the stakeholders in our school district. |
