It was a who’s who of elected state officials Thursday night July 11th as Attorney General William Tong joined Comptroller Sean Scanlon, State Senator Martin Looney, State Rep. Josh Elliot, and former Hartford mayor Luke Bronin at the Wallingford Democratic Town Committee’s July 11 “4 Women 4 Wallingford” fundraiser at Marcus Cooke Memorial Park.
Supporters crowded under the park’s pavilion to listen to rousing speeches championing Rebecca Hyland, running for state representative of the 90th House District; Brandi Mandato, running for State Senate District 34; and incumbents State Senator Mary Mushinsky representing Senate District 85 and State Rep. Liz Linehan of the 103rd House District.
All spoke passionately about being in the fight of our lives and the necessity to elect officials who’ll protect a woman’s right to choose, take action against climate change, and fight the increasingly extreme Republican agenda, particularly in the face of recent Supreme Court rulings, the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, and the threat of another Trump term.
DTC Chair Alida Cella noted: “We are thrilled to have such committed, compassionate candidates knocking doors to find out what voters are looking for. Our friends and neighbors are as tired of divisiveness as we are. They want people who’ll take action, and these amazing candidates are ready to listen and find solutions."
